Is there a way for force mIRC to ONLY allow SSL connectins.
I regularly use them, but sometimes if disconnected from a server for some reason when it auto-connects afterwards, it pops back up on a NON SSL connection.

If I hadn't been watching at the time I wouldn't have checked and found this out.

Most of the servers on the networks i use support SSL, so I see no reason to not use it, can non SSL be completely blocked.

Most other secure communication systems offer options such as 'unsecure, secure if possible, ONLY allow secure'.

Thanks.

The only thing I can think of, is to edit the server list for your network so that only the SSL servers are included.

Many offer non ssl on 6667 and ssl on 6697, but mirc doesn't seem to completely respect the setting, I had tried setting all to +6697 in the server list options, but had problems connecting at all then.

I've tried setting connect -> options - default port to +6697 or 6697 also.

I might have made a mistake when testing, this is the first time in a long time I've been using IRC.
I've gone through all scripts, and cleaned up all the server lists, recent used list, deleting everything that isn't on +6697.
Made sure all the servers for the network are listed as +6697
And set the default port to +6697

/server (network) now seems to be consitently choosing SSL only, but I don't consider this ideal.

I'd still like to request/suggest an SSL only config menu option for people, so, for example, a clicked irc:// link couldn't pull someone onto a non SSL server without at the very least a warning.
  1. SSL unchecked
  2. SSL preffered
  3. SSL preffered with notification (popup warning if not)
  4. SSL ONLY
