If you only get that when trying to use a proxy, then the simplest option is to not use a proxy.

Please note that several people have had problems with the windows firewall, to such an extent that they have disabled the windows firewall and use a 3rd party firewall.

Personally, I use Norton Personal Firewall.

How can you be getting an error regarding talking through a firewall with no firewall? Simply put, when you turn off the firewall, then it's gone. If you're still getting the same message even with the Windows firewall turned off, then you've got another firewall in place. Possibly a hardware firewall if you're using a DSL modem, Cable modem, and/or router.

Hellooo, go into your "Control Panel", look for "Windows Firewall", and click on it.

When the program comes up click on "Exceptions", and "Add a Program".

The "Add a Program" dialog will open. Click "Browse", and select the program you want to add which in this case would be the mirc.exe in your scripts main folder.

After you select it make sure a checkmark is placed beside the program name you added. The firewall shouldn't block it anymore then. smile

Some DSL modems have a firewall built into them. If you purchased your DSL modem, check the owner's manual to see if your DSL modem has a built in firewall. If you didn't, or if you don't have the owner's manual, then check the manufacturer's webpage.

I suppose it's possible that your ISP might be blocking proxies. Personally, I don't use proxies and I have no problems. Since you say it only happens when you use proxies, I'm wondering why you think/feel that you need to use proxies when lots of people don't use them and have no problems.

As a note, if you're trying to use the Proxy support information in mIRC's options, you'll get a firewall error message if it's not set up correctly. It has nothing to do with a real firewall. It's just that message because it's in the Firewall section of mIRC's options.

Make sure you're using a valid proxy and correct login information and port.
