Generally in Windows, Control-Backspace deletes the previous word. In Mirc it inserts a garbage control character, both in single and multiline input mode.

Thanks

confirm on v6.03 and 6.12
Use v6.14, it doesn't insert that character.

Sorry, I disagree. I use 6.14 and the problem occurs.

The real problem is not that the character appears but that control-backspace is supposed to delete the previous word (as it does in any other windows application), and this does not work in mIrc.

Thanks

Then where do we put ASC-127?
I've grown attached. smirk

PS. CTRL+G really ought to produce the ^G ASC-7 character.

I'm using Windows 98SE and I haven't got that problem.

Not quite. For example, try Notepad - you'll see it generates a $chr(127) character on ctrl+bksp as well. Another few quick examples from this WinXP installation: the text edit field in Paint and the address selection field in Addressbook.

mIRC has been like this longer than I can remember... I always thought there was a reason for it which I never figured out *shrugs*

I'm on mirc 6.14 and your error does not come up. works fine for me.

Cannot confirm with mIRC 6.14 on Win2k Pro SP4.

I think it depends on whether the "Multibyte editbox" option is checked under Alt+O >> IRC >> Messages.

When it is checked, Ctrl+Backspace deletes last word.
When it's unchecked, Ctrl+Backspace produces that char.

I'm using 98se.
