I want to use mIRC, but at the computer labs, where I am, they have a firewall (I think). Does anybody know how I can get passed it?
Please know that I don't have much knowledge about computers, internet, IRC and firewalls, so don't give me very complex answers
I appreciate any help I can get...
Complex eh?
If you are behind a firewall, disable it.
If you had read the post carefully, you'd seen that I wrote that I was at a computer lab (at my uni), and usually a student don't have as much access to the system as a network administrator
In other words, I can't just disable it
Which in essance means you can't use IRC.
If you want to use mIRC, disable the firewall.
If you want to disable the firewall, you have to get permission to use mIRC.

Yeah that, or, you could find a public proxy to connect to an irc server, just be dicrete, as your school might frown on the whole situation.
Or buy a bouncer and config it on a port that isnt blocked
If you're still considering bypassing your school's firewall, I suggest reading
this thread before you go any further.
