like hidden commands crazy?
Posted By: CyBot Re: Easter Eggs! - 05/09/03 02:19 PM
uh...stuff like;

When you open up the About mIRC dialog and type arnie, arnie appears...
Posted By: shadowdemon Re: Easter Eggs! - 05/09/03 02:28 PM
In the About Dialog

Typing "arnie" (without the "" ) changes Khaleds face to Arnie the mIRC Mascot

In the same window press your left mouse button on the mIRC icon, and it changes to
an older mIRC icon.

also in the same About dialog, press your right mouse button on the mIRC icon and
look carefully around the word mIRC© v6.1 and watch a dot spring up n down.

In the Toolbar uptop, with the options and remote icons are, press your right mouse
button on the about icon, and it changes to a smile.

These are some of the easter eggs i know of that work in V6.1, i had a list of other eggs,
for versions prior to 6.0, but i lost them.
try here http://www.eeggs.com/
i think they have a list somewhere, but dont expect all the eggs to work on V6.1, try them with previous versions, before 6.0

Posted By: shadowdemon Re: Easter Eggs! - 05/09/03 02:40 PM
Yeah i was wondering that myself,

Maybe we couuld get Raccoon to post his easter eggs for us, i have tried to figure out with this business of the otter n stuff is, i`v searched the source code, i`v looked in the help file, i`v even searched Khaleds website i cant find anything frown
I even ran searches in google and yahoo

Posted By: CyBot Re: Easter Eggs! - 05/09/03 02:54 PM

Another easter egg is: /zyzzy

Try it smile

Posted By: shadowdemon Re: Easter Eggs! - 05/09/03 03:01 PM
Yeah i used a Hexeditor, cant remeber which one tho, i tried searching in the list of parameters for certain words that would show up up in the hex code, i`m no programmer, but i had a freind that showed me how a hexeditor works once cos we had to hexedit a save game file for a game to give us extra cash, lol, same principle, use a hex editor to look for "otter" and see if any other words are kept in that same general area of the program source code, not that i condone the illegal use of a hex editor, but sometimes i like to go poking around grin to see how something works.

It worked in 6.03. It should display in the status windows with red text "Nothing Happens"

There was a post on it made by either racoon or codemastr but I can't seem to find it. I'm sure one of them will correct me if I've got it wrong smile

there's the "me:" prefix in remote events, which makes it only activate if it was triggered by yourself. so you can do stuff like
Code:
on me:*:join:#:msg $chan Ashkrynt in da house!

instead of needing an explicit if ($nick == $me) smile

I can't get Khaled to squeak - it just opens up the Khaled's Nutshell page.
Posted By: CyBot Re: Easter Eggs! - 05/09/03 04:53 PM
Try clicking in the right place grin
Posted By: Raccoon Re: Easter Eggs! - 05/09/03 06:27 PM
The fun of an easter egg is discovering it for yourself. wink
But, since these are eggs that no longer exist...

About Show:
I can tell you how I came about discovering it; I went looking through old mirc.ini backup files from as early as v5.31 and noticed an arbitrary value that kept changing from version to version. So I reinstalled all of my old versions and downloaded the ones I didn't have, and made a comprehensive list of these values from the earliest version that the About dialog had a checkbox.

Of this list, included different animals Khaled has seen on his various excursions around the world, his favorite cartoons, and vague blade runner references... to name a few.

I'll leave the task of completing this list, up to you.
_____

About Arnie:
Another related egg-like thing was this undocumented setting.
This was also removed in v6.10, and last worked in v6.03
  • in mirc.ini
    [about]
    arnie=on
This setting perminately replaced Khaled's face with Arnie's.
It would have been a popular egg in this version, with the about dialog always-on.
(not saying that Khaled isn't fun to look at, Arnie is just... funner. grin)

Another Easter Egg that has been removed in v6.10.

Ouch!, Eek!, Yikes!:
This is a well documented easter egg on many sites, but I'm posting it just the same as a tribute to it and Khaled's cult sense of humor. When right-clicking on the right-most toolbar icon, a tooltip box would appear containing one of the following phrases with each click.

ouch!, eek!, yikes!, moo!, erk!, :P~~~, It's life Jim..., but not as we know it, Ni!, *positive karma*, oink, With a rubber duck..., one's never alone, -gribbit-, hi MOM!, hoohaa!, I'm a Tigger, are you?, nanoo nanoo, BaDOOM!, Mork calling Ork, Yak!, Whatever you do..., DON'T PANIC!, Grrr..., Greetings $me $+ !, :[/b]), That's all folks!, Enjoy the ride :[b]), woowoo!

If you recognize at least 5 of the above references, you're a typical geek in their mid-late 20's.
Scary, ain't it. smile

However, now when you right-click this same icon, it turns into a smiley face. This use to happen when you held Shift and clicked on the icon in v6.03 and earlier.

Oooh I found it! grin
Posted By: codemastr Re: Easter Eggs! - 05/09/03 11:54 PM
about the "shift arnie" thing, not sure if everyone knows this but you don't actually have to type "arnie" a <anything here> r <anything here> n <anything here> i <anything here> e

meaning ajfdsfdrsjfdsfdsnjjkjkifdfdfse will still show the arnie image.
Posted By: Raccoon Re: Easter Eggs! - 06/09/03 02:37 AM
I didn't say "shift arnie" though.
To my knowlege, you don't have to press shift for that egg.

Note: The 'a' 'r' 'n' 'i' 'e' easter-egg is the product of a small hidden button control just beneath Khaled's about photo. You can use any number of window enumeration tools to hide/show this button.
(Sorry for the spoiler folks.)

mmmm and what do $nopnick $beta $nickmode do?:)
Posted By: Raccoon Re: Easter Eggs! - 06/09/03 02:08 PM
$beta is an undocumented identifier, that would apparently be used by beta testers.

$opnick/$nopnick/etc. were added in v5.0 and were later replaced by $nick() in v5.60.
They are depreciated identifiers, except $opnick is still used in On Op/Deop, etc

$nickmode appears to be an undocumented sibling to $prefix that doesn't appear in the versions_all.txt
I could track down exactly when $nickmode first appeared, if you really need to know.

- Raccoon

PS. Before asking about any undocumented $identifier or /command, check to see if it's just an old and depreciated command, in this complete versions.txt. Many times, a command is taken out of the help file, or never even makes it in... but will usually appear in an a versions file.
Posted By: pheonix Re: Easter Eggs! - 06/09/03 02:27 PM
//echo -a $beta in 6.1 returns $false, perhaps it's to check if it's a beta version crazy
Posted By: pheonix Re: Easter Eggs! - 20/09/03 11:52 PM
i typed $ip wrong like the dumbass that i am and found $pi grin (6.1)
Posted By: _D3m0n_ Re: Easter Eggs! - 21/09/03 12:55 AM
$pi is a mathematical identifier for pi in 6.03 it returns

//echo -a $pi

and u get :
3.14159265358979323846

if your getting something other than that then maybe its broken?
Posted By: pheonix Re: Easter Eggs! - 21/09/03 12:56 AM
i meant its another undocumented identifier, and i know what it is  smile
Posted By: _D3m0n_ Re: Easter Eggs! - 21/09/03 01:01 AM
ahh didnt ever realize it was undocumented ..... your possitive it wasnt added into a versions.txt somewhere and just never included in the helpfile? alot of times that is also the case ... just because its not in the helpfile doesnt mean its undocumented. ive not gone back to check if this is the case so please excuse me if im incorrect there.
Posted By: pheonix Re: Easter Eggs! - 21/09/03 05:47 PM
im not sure, i class undocumented as not being in the help file
