i have not been on mirc for awhile and need a new password, how do i get this>>

why do you need a new password? If your copy of mIRC is registered, then it should work fine, as the registration code will be automatically passed to any new installations of mIRC.
If you have sent the registration fee and haven't received the registration code, use Lost Registration and they will attempt to find your registration code and e-mail it back to you. Normally this only takes a few moments.

What kind of password are you looking for? One for connecting to a particular network? One for accessing this forum? Or, one for using mIRC (aka the registration code)? More details always help.

The first one requires going to the network and registering your nick again. If you don't know how to do that, join the #help channel on the network and ask. The second one would require going to the login screen and click the forgot password link. The third requires doing what RussellB said.
