Forums mIRC Help IRC causing computer to shut down

someone's really gotta help me on this.
it has been going on for months now.
i start downloading files and at random times my computer shuts down.
completely restarts.
my computer runs fine with everything else i do.
just IRC gives me a problem.
very frustrating.

AMD XP 1800
512 DDR
GEForce 4 TI 4200
WD 60 GB

i hope someone has an answer.

Numerous things can cause this.

what OS are you using?
any router? have the latest firmware/drivers?
installed any speed patches/download "superchargers" ?

mite try using the search feature here, all forums, expand the date range using words like crash or disconnect or your os.
