Forums mIRC Help * [10053] Software caused connection abort

How can I fix this?

i'm having the same problem and yes i have read the other thread.

things ive tried and still get the same 10053 error:

mirc versions 6.03, 5.9, 5.91
using ports 6667 and 7000
enabling, disabling, and configuring xp firewall

i'm in the process of leaving 6.03 running on my 2k to see if it works there.

i'm running xp-pro sp1 (along w/ a good big of frustration at not being able to stay connected for more than 30 sec) so i would really appreciate some help

having 2k crash (and ive been using 2k for about 2 years now on a different connection) makes me think that its my isp. what could they be doing to allow me to connect for 30secs to 5 min and then get the 10053 error?

not sure if this will help anyone but i reset my router and forwarded the irc ports to my ip and that seemed to fix it (ive been on irc for 3 or 4 hours how w/out a disconnect)

nvr mind, it only fixed it for a few hours, its back at it again

Use the search feature here as well as the link that was already pointed out earlier in this thread. There is no real answer to this problem, what works for some people doesn't work for others. This topic has been done to death and nobody has come up with a concrete answer yet, so trying to bump your post will achieve nothing. When you use the search feature, make sure you set it to all forums, and expand the date range. If you read all the posts you may find something which works for you.

re: d3mon, i bumped the thread because i didnt get a reply, furthermore, i bumped it after waiting a day, it wasnt like i was trolling the forums every 5 min

"bumping" still just shows impatience and is frowned apon in the forums. Please just wait for someone to take th etime to answer your question, as making it active once more will just further irritate posters.

Realize that all of us who help here are volunteers and arent here 24/7, so "bumping" isnt going to increase or speedup any replies. The things others have tried successfully have been put into a sticky post near the top of the connections area here, and of course there is our search feature. i dont know of anything new to add, and its pointless to detail what has already been posted and you were referred to. I can sympathize with your frustration, but this is an issue that just doesnt have any one simple answer.

yes i realize that everyone helping is a volunteer and i was merely bumping to keep the topic active. no it wasnt out of impatience (if it was i would have bumped it much sooner)

yes i am very appreciative of the help that people freely offer.
