The SAPI (Speech Application Programming Interfaces) 4 speech services in the Windows operating systems don't work this way. There is no built-in ability to auto-detect the language of a piece of text and then route it to a text-to-speech engine of that corresponding language...Instead, each separate SAPI 4 (and Microsoft Agent) application optionally allows the setting of the language for its own text-to-speech output... As the end-user of someone else's application, there may not be an option for you to select a particular language for text-to-speech output....Furthermore, if a Microsoft Agent application is written so that it does not specifically set any language for its text-to-speech functionality, the language of the text-to-speech engine used will default to the operating system language setting for the current user (assuming there is a text-to-speech engine in that language installed).

And now? MS agent tries to read the english messages in Mirc in German, 'cause I've got the German OS (sounds terrible! try to pronounce "user so-and-so has joined the channel" the german way - sux). According to MS, the host application has to allow to set the language. So where is it? Seems the developer of Mirc has forgotten us non-english speakers once again mad frown.
Is the german language component of microsoft agent installed on your system?
