trying to set an alias that joins me to the channels i reside in, but it doesnt seem to work for channel #:

/jk {
/j #1
/j #2
/j #3
/j #4
/j #5
/j #
}

other chans are fine, just not #
(i've also tried /invite bt # , and that doesnt work)

I think /join # will work.
Why not use

mirc evaluates single # as current channel

Once you are connected to a network, if you know the channel/room you want to go into, type /join #thechannelnamehere like /join #mIRC

If your problem is getting to a network to begin with, or finding a channel try clicking on "Intro to IRC" or "How to Install" along the left side of the screen here.
