Says it can't find mirc.hlp when that file was changed to mirc.chm
You need the latest version to use mIRC.chm... you can't just stick that help file into an old version of mIRC and expect it to work (though you can just type //run mIRC.chm from any version of mIRC.
Confirmed with 6.21. There error says it can't find mirc.hlp.

you sure ?

i use 6.20 and i removed .hlp and added .chm
it works perfect, it even calls it thru Help -> Search without
any problems
Well, whatever version we got the new one with. I don't remember. I thought we got it with 6.21, but maybe it was an earlier version. Obviously, if it calls mIRC.hlp, it can't just automatically find mIRC.chm.

In any case, the latest version comes with mIRC.chm, and it works just fine. No need to replace anything.
it came with last .21 for VISTA users
He's not trying to replace anything, he's saying that if mirc.chm is
missing the error should state "can't find mirc.chm" since it is now
the help file name, instead it states "can't find mirc.hlp".
Ah, I misread what he was saying. Yes, that should be changed.
It's not a big problem or anything. I just noticed it when I ran the exe by itself.
mIRC currently supports both the mirc.chm and mirc.hlp files. It will try mirc.chm first and mirc.hlp second. I may remove support for mirc.hlp at some point, I left it in for users who might prefer it. As someone noted, mIRC supported mirc.chm files long before the official mirc.chm was released in 6.21. This was for users who had created their own mirc.chm file from mirc.hlp.
Should the error message still say that it can't find mIRC.hlp, though? Or should it say it can't find mIRC.chm? Or, since either is acceptable, should it say it can't find the mIRC help file (without mentioning the extension)?
