I've searched the forum and could not find anything discussing this issue. The problem I'm having is in Options -> Other -> Window buffer. From the help, it says that this controls the length of the channel scroll buffer. Since I like to see everything I set it to a big number like 2000 or 3000. Up until mIRC version 6.16 this worked fine. In 6.17 and 6.2 I'm having issues with this. I no longer got the 2000 or 3000 lines in the buffer in the newest versions of mIRC. Even if I set it to the maximum value (30,000) I only get about 450 lines. The 30,000 is closer to the number of characters in those 450 lines (at 40,000) than the 450 lines I get in the scroll buffer.

What can be done to fix this issue? I don't want to be stuck at 6.16 forever. I'm on Windows XP Pro with SP2 if that matters. Hopefully this can be fixed.

Thanks,
Michael

Can't confirm this on 6.2

Since this does not happen to you, I just deleted my mirc.ini file and reconfigured mIRC too see if it is an issue with something in an old mirc.ini file. I think I've had this file for probably over 5 years. I'll post on whether this works or not.

Okay, since deleting the mirc.ini file, I have a buffer of 2010 lines in one of the channels, therefore, the experiment was a success. I guess something changed in the ini file between 6.16 and 6.17 forward that made the setting mess up.

Confirmed here. I actually made a post about this but it was in the wrong forum crazy: link.

Well, I don't know what made it work, all I know is I deleted the mirc.ini and redid all of the settings in mIRC, and then it started to work as it should with a long buffer.
