Colour codes + Timestamp = UTF-8 corruption - 20/04/06 12:03 AM
My friend was messing around with the new mIRC 6.17, but when he enabled UTF-8 support specialcharacters (like æøå) would display with characters like æÃ,Ã¥. We checked a lot of options, but eventually narowed it down to his timestamp. His timestamp format was as follows:
(I hope the special colourcode chars show up, if not it was like this:
STX ETX 2 [STX ETX 12 US HH US ETX2· ETX12USnnETX2US · ETX12US ss US ETX2STX]
)
This was replicable on my install of mIRC 6.17.
Fix:
Don't use colourcodes in your timestamp if you use UTF-8.
[Edit]
Seems like it was the special char "·" that screwed things up and NOT the colour codes. My bad.
Code:
2[12HH2·12nn2·12ss2]
(I hope the special colourcode chars show up, if not it was like this:
STX ETX 2 [STX ETX 12 US HH US ETX2· ETX12USnnETX2US · ETX12US ss US ETX2STX]
)
