If I'm in channel #test, and type "#t" followed by a [tab] the channel name "test" is completed. If I then erase this line and type "#x" where 'x' is a character that does not form the beginning of a channel that I am presently in, and press [tab], mIRC 6.16 freezes.
Hmmm I dont have that problem. Im using win2kpro sp4 and mirc 6.16. What OS are you using? When Im in a single channel and do #l [TAB] (for my own personal channel that is stored in the channels listing) it tabs that channel even if Im not in it at the moment. Are you using a scripted on mirc? Did you download the script with it's own EXE file? Just askig for more info is all
I'm running Windows XP SP1, mIRC 6.16, no scripts/add-ons. There're no channels in my favourite list.
I've just tested this on a fresh install, and it still works:
1. open mIRC
[in status window]
2. /server some.server
3. /join #test
[in #test window]
4. type '#t"
5. press TAB
6. delete the '#test' that appeared
7. type '#x'
8. press TAB
9. 99% CPU usage, mIRC freezes.
mine just dings (thru the speakers) and doesnt allow me to complete it at all but doesnt freeze. I ahv a scripted on mirc but by me so I know nothing's going on that shouldnt (unless Ive coded bad somewhere)
Confirmed here.
This seems to only work if the letter you TAB with does not exist in the [chanfolder] section of mirc.ini. I deleted the entire section and #x worked. I then added:
#abbybomb
#b
#c
After doing #test, it would not freeze with those letters (a/b/c), but once again froze with #x.
This did not happen with my normal install of mIRC 6.16 which has the default [chanfolder] section in it, even though I tried using a letter that doesn't exist in the default chan folder (#z) nor that I was in at the time. When testing on my normal install, I was connected to 3 networks.
When testing with the 6.16 fresh install, CPU usage did go up to 100%. I also noticed that two instances of the fresh install appeared in the task manager (after it froze up), but I only had one open.
OS: XP Home SP2
Version: mIRC 6.16, completely fresh install.
Regards,
confirmed on 6.16, 6.15 AND 6.03
Winxp home SP1
Copied only the mIRC exe to a diff folder and ran it and it still froze
Nothing wrong here.
- With default [chanfolder] -> doesnt freeze
- With nothing in [chanfolder] -> doesnt freeze
- With 3 channels in [chanfolder] -> doesnt freeze
Unless I have misunderstood the problem, there has been no trouble here.
Using XP Home SP1 - clean v6.16
XP Pro SP2 Vanilla mIRC Confirmed
