Copy for example the string "#aaaaaaaaa unable to join channel (need correct key)" and hold STRG+V in the command line (so that it pastes it some times) and mirc will crash quietly. I think it's some kind of buffer overflow.

Bug found on mIRC 6.12/WinXP SP1.

Can't reproduce here.. STRG+V you mean CTRL+V ?
Maybe you use some scripts.. And that scripts cause the crash..

I could not reproduce this in the Status window or a channel window. Tested on mIRC 6.12 XP Pro.

Sorry yeah it was CTRL+V. It's just because it's STRG on German keyboards :P

It only works on channels. Copy some string, hold CTRL
down and hold V. If it works it should be something like this:

<nick> [14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ide
<nick> [14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ident response[14:09:57] -efnet.blablablabla.bla- *** No Ide
* nick (~ident@abc.abc.abc.abc) Quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer)

It's not like the server would disconnect you or something, mIRC really crashes.

Also tested on mIRC 6.12 (with and without scripts) / Win2000 (without SP).

Same here, tried that same string, made mIRC max out the editbox and send about 50 times, tried other strings, no crash.

Strange. Maybe efnet servers are sending some special command (when flooding) that mIRC can't handle.
Anyone tried it on efnet?

No crash here (v6.12 @ Win98), tested on EFNet (and more intensively on my Unreal server).
