mIRC appears to understand the redirection instructions, but is following them to a fault. the functionality is nice, but it needs to be fixed so that it wont allow itself to be redirected to the same server without at least incrementing the retry counter (id like it if it just ignored the redirect completely).

This probably belongs in the features suggestion forum. mIRC is only following the instructions given by the server. It is a useful feature, but if the IRC network doesn't know how to report an open server then it isn't mIRC's fault.
