Hi, i'm looking for people to help me code xM-IRCd. I use a dialup connection, so I can not provide a sample. Please contact me with an email (breaker20@aol.com).
Please contact me.
good luck with that.... lol. Why not write one in like c++? Although an ircd in mirc scripting.. would be... cool? Sounds kinda hard though.
It's actually very simple because of how easy it is to use files (Storing info about channels, etc) or any other method of storing large amounts of data, sockets, etc.
meh, I think i'm going to try and write one lol.
Logging information and sockets is simple in general- the tedious work is implementing all of the numerics specified by the RFC
Yeah i know, I already started it. So far.. i have .. connect... the NICK and USER commands as well as QUIT. .. yay ? :|
Too bad mike is a n00bie scriptor :P
(for those of u who dont know, he and i go to the same server) So mr. mikey, i assume ur going to be asking me for help in a few minutes ..
nah .. ur a semi-competant programmer, which is boarderline more than i can say about myself.. but keep us updated on wut u got, im sure these people would love the updates as much as i will, but i can personally harass u for them if i really want to see it
hey now, i didnt come here and start calling u mike .. i mean that would be like violation or privacy or something :P
oh wait .. i did! HA!
lol.. idiot..
Anyways, I'm going to start working on channels.. somewhat... :\ .. i guess :|
and u can make the mp3 player i was working on while ur at it .. mp3 players r slightly frusterating, just btw ..
never tried one.. and you can make it yourself.
mike is mean
well while im talking about it tho, any1 know if its possible to stream music from the internet through an mirc dialog based mp3 player? -- i shoulda prolly make a new topic on the forums for that but .. meh
Download a certain part of the file using sockets, write it to an audio file and /splay it, do that until the file's finished. QuickMan released a snippet that streams music from shoutcast.com, you can find it on mircscripts.org.
wow cool thanks .. i'll be sure to check it out. One of Mike and My fellow admins DJ's fairly often with shoutcast, so i thought it would be cool if i could add that into the mp3 player i am making to go with our client
Please, stay on topic and if you are interested in helping, Please help!!!!!! Use a different topic about mp3 players and whatnot.
mm im sortof intresetd... what network are you usualy on?
I can answer that for him
irc.winbots.org #winbots
(at the time of writing this he isnt on)
Im curently workin on an IRCd in mIRC script. You can check out what I have working so far at the link below.
http://basicer.is-a-geek.com/phantom/
Awgh, crap. You are way ahead of me in scripting and usefulness!
Why would you do that ?
i don't see any point of making an IRCD in mIRC Script, so why are doing it ??
I can think of a few reasons why someone would:
Better their scripting abilities
The thought of writing a 'irc server' could make you feel good about yourself in some weird way
Writing a IRCd and having what you want in it, nothing more nothing less
basicer is far ahead of me as well.. I haven't worked on it much since i started.. I don't think I want to bother anyways... I like Unreal.. It would be hard to get all of its features .. well .. it would take a long time.
Sounds like an intresting project. A friend of mine created his bot with sockets, it sort of had its own little "socket" server login area... sort of IRCdish... I dont see quite how the IRCd would fully run though? Just boot up with mIRC? would it be able to support users and modes... and things of that nature.. I'd assume services would be compleatly out of question.. (no offence to mIRC since i love it.. but... we all know that Windows IRCd's arnt the stable :P except maybe Unreal who has a "Stable" windows version. )
Actually, somebody called Ltsurge (Or something similar to that) wrote a pretty decent ircd in mIRC script.
It supported users, modes, etc. and seemed to be pretty fast.
I wrote it to test scripts on. It makes things alot easier when you can see exactly what the server is getting, and tweek the flood settings. Also my server has something called attackserv with can emulate clone floods and things like that. It seems to have turned into a contest between me and Talon on who can write the best IRCd, and we plan to make them linkable using the same protocol. Its just kinda cool to think that a client is so powerfull you can code the server in it.
Ah, it was Ltsurge that sent it to me and I just assumed he'd wrote it.
My mistake.
If anyone wants to see my script in action, I usualy have my developement snapshot server runnin on: 66.227.254.57:6667 Feel free to drop in and test things out. If you find a bug, it would be great if you could tell me about it!
