Maybe a suggestion for the next version:
Put in some more colours for text, background etc... Let us define what color by the #FFFFF-index (if u know what i mean), so we have more then 16 colors to choose...
as for more colors, perhaps, but you can define what shade of "white" you'd like, or make orange a dark blue. Press alt+k, right click a color box, and select your new color.
I agree. I'm not fussed at what mIRC sends to other clients but as far as the GUI is concerned the full 32bit colour range should be available concurrently as per Bersirc.
I agree with more colors for
local use.
I agree... somewhat (and only for local use) but honestly, can you tell me what the difference is between these 5 colors:
#000001
#010000
#000100
#010101
#010001
And if you can, just by looking at them, then you may want to call up Guiness because your eyes are more sensitive than that of any living creature on Earth. The fact is, for use in text RGB is overkill. RGB was designed for images, that is to blend and allow transitions, such as in a gradient. It was not designed so you could have millions of different colors to use in text. I agree that for local use it should be expanded, perhaps to a set of 256 colors, but I really fail to see why black is unacceptable and instead you need to have #000001 as the color, or red is unacceptable and instead you need #FF0001. To the human eye, they look exactly the same.
I think if people were given the ability to echo RGB colors, they would have all sorts of fun with fading color bars, and other cute display fun. Though I'm sure I could come up with some decent uses if it became an option.
I'd personally be happy with just 32 colors, that is, 4 shades of each color instead of just 2. For anything that requires more colors, it'd probably be done in a picture window anyway.

Even the range 0-98 would be quite enough I think, for local use.
I agree, I only suggested 256 because 256 is often the next step up from 16 when it comes to monitor colors.
That's true but mIRC has ^K0-99 now, although ^K99 should be left as is IMHO.
i personally would like the ability to have more colors .... but i dont think using the format your suggesting ..... i think that would really make mirc look more likea picture show rather thana chat client ..... maybe just increasing from the standard 16 to say 256 or even 64 just cut some of the ones that are so close its unimportant .... i myself like colors but having s huge or unlimited amount of them would just make things alil ugly in my opinion ..... id even trade the user defined color section where ur able to edit the defualt 16 to anything u want for a larger list of colors and make em non editable
Tell me, why is 99 black...
what's the story behind it?
Nice
but, where's the "mIRC 6.04 Beta 5" text?
It isn't 'black' (necessarily), it's "Normal text" color.
Nifty, when was that added?
If only 98 were background color.
I have no idea when it was added, ... years ago.
Thnx for the tip, that was actually the thing i was looking for
Heh, Raccoon gave me an idea, and besides, i was bored >:D
First, we have 256 colors (I can't seem to figure out what is cauing the black box tho)
And then 1024 colors
eep! do without being able to edit the colours? but..but... that's one of my fav "toys"
yes but if we had like 64 colors to choose from would u need to edit it most of the time? i really dont edit my colors because alot of things i change visually in dialogs using dls and such even all my nicklists only thing i use the normal 16 colors for would be for actual text ..... which really would be nicer to have the more colors without having to loose the standard 16 ..... altho its just a suggestion ....... another suggestion would be ..... in the colors selection menu if u could preset some custom colors and they be 17 , 18 and so on and so fouth ...... have use of more than 16 colors at one time would be nice
yes but if we had like 64 colors to choose from would u need to edit it most of the time?
me? yep! i wouldnt mind having more colours to choose from...but i guarantee i'd be editting them all to death <grin> in fact, having more to edit would even more fun...nifty idea.
lol i myself do like the colors altho i dont edit them at all ...... anyhow it would be nice to see more colors editable or not .......
Raccoon Can you please tell me how you managed to make that 31 colour palete, I just cant work it out.
THanks
Photoshop and manually calculating the RGB values for each color. Manually filling them in, and manually pasting the appropriate numbers.
