Any plans for making mIRC run from a memory stick?
mIRC requires installation, so if I copy mIRC folder to a memory stick and try to run mIRC on a machine where mIRC has never been installed, it does not run.

Already done. Add the -portable switch to the path on the shortcut that points at mirc.exe.

I added -portable after mirc.exe in the command line but it did not help. Besides the idea is to run mIRC on a machine you never seen before so you can't know what drive name the memory stick would have so you can't create a shortcut. Its still a pain.

A shortcut can be relative rather than absolute. Put it in the same folder as mIRC.exe and link directly to mIRC.exe without a path and it won't matter what drive the memory stick uses on any given computer.

My fault, its an ant-vir program that did not let mIRC to run. But still curious why not teach mIRC keep the ini file in the same directory without additional keys. That would seem to be way flexible approach.

it does, that is what the -portable option does

I'm thinking he means having a built-in option to toggle portable
mode rather than being forced to use a shortcut with the switch.
