Instead of cramming everything into the mirc.ini file, the favorites could be stored under a favorites.ini file.

the mirc.ini file should contain only the settings.

Any scripts thats too be loaded should not have to have to replace the original mirc.ini file. There should just be a file thats "scriptname.ini" or "scriptname.dll" and can be loaded and unloaded

Hi, i agree with this one, i seem to remember posting something like this
probably on the old boards (before the fire) frown

maybe having a scripts.ini, that includes all of your loaded scripts, so we could have

alias.ini
channels.ini
favourites.ini(your suggestion)
mirc.ini
perform.ini
popups.ini
remote.ini
scripts.ini
servers.ini
urls.in

The red highlights are my own suggestions (saves opening a new topic)
The blue highlight is yours

That should reduce the file size atleast of mirc.ini, which sometime is prone to losing
its loaded scripts, tho i must say this seems to have fixed itself with V6.16 upwards
of mIRC, but hey you never know it could happpen and losing i dunno 50+ loaded scripts
and having to reload them all again is a pain.

As a further suggestion on the subject of backup. Maybe the mirc installer could be updated to give the option to further backup the ini files as well are the exe and help files that it currently supports.
