Is this going to be done? It would be a bliss for all IRC users. For example Irssi on *nix already uses it. Very handy and nice. I think mIRC should convert to it as soon as possible too. What are the developers thoughts about it?

This has been suggested lots of times before, please use the search feature. Khaled has said it is planned for the future.

The search function gives nothing for "UTF" or "unicode" so don't blame me i'm curious to know when will that "future" be? 2 months? 2 decades?

Yes it does, you're probably not expanding the date range to something like '5 years' and leaving it at '1 week'.
