Hi,

What do you guys think about adding in the /run command to accept all hosts? Like this:

We always do: /run www.google.com
Why we cant only do /run google.com ? Its more easy and fast.

What do you think about this?

its better/safer to use /url for this, or to run your browser with run and the address as parameter. you dont want to open format.com this way ? smile

This could lead to security issues. .com is a file extension for DOS executables. Someone could have created a malicious .com file called "google.com" that somehow ended up on your hard drive, and when you do:

/run google.com, mIRC would execute the file, and the malicious executable google.com would run.

It can also conflict with another .com filename that exists on your hard drive.

Ex:

Let's say you want to visit www.format.com , using you're way of doing:

/run format.com

would cause the 'format.com' program to run.

But someone could also create a file called www.format.com shocked.

But would it still run because of the extra . ?

Apparently mIRC overrides the filename check when it sees www..

You could always live with, /run iexplore.exe mirc.com
