How about making a function that makes mirc start up automaticly when windows starts?

And also make mirc able to make shortcuts (like maybe /copy -s or something) not only copying files (/copy)

You can but it's not in mIRC itself, it's part of Windows. Place a mIRC shortcut icon in...

C:\Documents and Settings\<Your account>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

.... folder and each time you boot mIRC will open for you.

BTW: That path is Windows 2000. It might be different for Win 9X. Just do a search for *Startup* to be sure.

I know! I have already done that, but it would be great if mirc had a function like that so it could be used in script and sutch...

And very userful for trojan-makers wink

As for the shortcuts, read this.

"trojan-makers".. That's great..

How would an option to have mIRC run as a windows service (to make it mIRC run on start) give "trojan-makers" any advantage on a person's system?

If you ask me, any program that is such a high caliber program such as mIRC should have this option. It allows for other settings as well.. Such as starting in minimized mode when being run on start.

I know that you can create a shortcut to: start /m "mirc's path/file.exe"
Then place that in your start menu. (to make mIRC run on startup in minimized mode) But how sloppy is that? Also, most people don't even know they can do that in the first place..

The suggestion wasn't for the ability to set mIRC up as a service. He wanted mIRC to have a function to enable scripts to make mIRC run on startup. Two very different things.

Type '/help Command Line'. If you can't be bothered with all of that, just type '//run $mircexe -service'. I'm not 100% sure this is right, because I edited my registry manually and added mIRC as a service, but from how Khaled describes the above command in the help file, I guess it does the same thing.

How would a script, that is run by mIRC, make mIRC start with windows if mIRC isn't already started to run the script? lol

That's kind of nonsensical. Why not just have an option to have mIRC run at start, with options included in that (such as start minimized), then put a function in that will allow a script to change those settings?

It could easily be done with the function simply making mIRC add a few lines to the registry, or just creating a shortcut in the Startup folder. Having it as a function rather than an option seems pointless for any normal use.
