How would I go about changing up the JOIN and QUIT messages? Would that be like using a RAW command like :

raw JOIN:*: { ...

raw QUIT:*: { ...

Change "raw" to "on" and and change the format to the correct format, then yes.

RAWs are numerical and aren't what you're looking for here. Note that you'll need to use ^ and haltdef.
