Hello all

I have been trying to connect on several of my scripts for the past week ...
but none of them work ..
all i get is Invalid Argument ...
Friends Have told me to change the port# ...
but that has not been it ...
plz if anyone can help me please do ...
im tired of using this one script that i dont like ...
i would like to use my other scripts

It would help to know what script(s) are making it so that you cannot connect. Also, because you say that you can connect with some script that you don't like, I assume that you can connect without any scripts loaded? What script is it that works that you don't like?
Posted By: BabyBlueEyes Re: Please help - 13/12/06 09:39 PM
Majik Knight hood doesnt work
Jokerette doesn't work
Cuddles Don't work.
rose script doesnt work
and scoop script doesnt work

but peace and pertection does work
Posted By: Riamus2 Re: Please help - 13/12/06 10:20 PM
Hm... I don't know any of those, except Scoop... and I can tell you that Scoop has backdoors unless it has changed since I looked at it last. I would recommend never using that script.
Posted By: BabyBlueEyes Re: Please help - 13/12/06 11:02 PM
well i dont like scoop at all ....
all i need though is this problem of how to fix this Invalid Argument
Posted By: RusselB Re: Please help - 14/12/06 05:00 AM
Along with that error message, it should indicate which script is causing the error and which line in that script.
It would be more helpful if you could post the script that's causing that problem, or provide a link to a location where that script is available from, so that we can review the code.

That's a connection error message, so it won't list a script or line number.
Posted By: BabyBlueEyes Re: Please help - 14/12/06 02:33 PM
what is a script and line number?

I couldn't find this from a simple search, so can't comment.

I didn't get any connection issues, but I only connected to a local server (/server 127.0.0.1).

Another one that would seem to contain trojans and backdoors, from a quick google. (I didn't examine it myself, however)

Found it on mircscripts.com - which, unlike the .org site of the same name, I don't think verifies its scripts for backdoors/trojans.

Another one that violates the licence agreement by packaging mIRC (version 6.01) (renamed) along with the script. Yet it advises you use the latest in the docs...

Contains an on connect to notify the author (or anyone who happens to be called Rinvi) that you are online.

Again, no problems connecting to my local server

http://www.magickalmastery.com/downloads/

and im so sorry it wasnt Cuddles it is Snuggles ... My mistake

Considering that it appears many of those scripts have backdoors or other undesirable content, I would strongly recommend not using any of them in the first place. If there are specific features you want to have, you can usually find other scripts with those features, or people here can help you to have those features without the need for using possibly dangerous scripts.

Ok ...
well can anyone offer a really good script then?
Posted By: Riamus2 Re: Please help - 14/12/06 11:05 PM
It depends what you're looking for. There are numerous good scripts out there, but just because I like one doesn't mean that you will. If you can mention some of the things that you want the script to have (or not have), then someone can suggest ones that match what you want. Right now, I wouldn't know what was good for your needs... I use Invision (and a lot of my own scripts), but that doesn't mean it's the best one for you.

well ...
I like a Varity of Pop-ups ...
I like Music systems ...
I even like to change the background on my screen cuz my eyes are very sensitive ...
I like it to be good and secure ...
No back doors ...
A script thats not that hard to figure out ...
But I do like it to be fancy .. or rather neat ...
perferably for girls ...
cuz i dont want to use a pop up that was for guys ...
thats basically it ...
I just like to do alot of things with my script

Hm... maybe someone has a good suggestion for you. I personally don't know any that are really good ones for what it seems you are looking for.

However, if you know specific things in popups that you want to have, it would be easy for any of us to script you a popup script with everything you need/want. Backgrounds are also easy to do. And there are many good music playing scripts available as well that could be combined with the other stuff if needed. There are also some good scripts for protection available.

If no one here has a good suggestion for a script to match what you are looking for, then maybe someone (or some people) will write up the different parts that you want to have if you post the specific things that you'd like to have with as much information as you can provide. It doesn't sound like you necessarily need a full script with tons of features, such as Invision, so it shouldn't be too much work for people here to set you up with all the things you want.
Posted By: RusselB Re: Please help - 15/12/06 02:40 AM
I can't think of a single script that has all of that, but she might be smart to check some of the scripting sites, like Hawkee or mIRC Scripts.org

Both of those have links to other scripting sites as well.

Worst case scenario, someone here, or on one of those other sites, might be willing to write something from scratch.
Posted By: BabyBlueEyes Re: Please help - 15/12/06 06:30 AM
well ive been to those sites before and nothing has really suited me and if i do find one i still have to worry about the connection error that says Invalid Argument
Posted By: Sais Re: Please help - 16/12/06 12:17 PM
Are you getting that error *without* running any scripts?

I had got the impression it was only when you were running one of those scripts.
Posted By: BabyBlueEyes Re: Please help - 17/12/06 12:42 AM
Even with the basic Download of mIRC it says Invalid Argument
Not just most of my scripts
Posted By: genius_at_work Re: Please help - 17/12/06 02:48 AM
Try downloading and installing mIRC again, but this time, make sure you use a DIFFERENT folder than before. The default is c:\program files\mirc. Change that to something different like c:\program files\newmirc

That way, you can be sure that your previous settings aren't being carried over to the new mirc.
