Is it posible mIRC to have it's own Visual Style, without to sway of Windows's current Theme?
Posted By: hixxy Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 08/03/06 06:16 PM
Not natively.
Posted By: SoundreameR Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 08/03/06 08:16 PM
ffs... frown it would be realy... REALY cool... smirk
Posted By: hixxy Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 09/03/06 06:12 AM
No it wouldn't. It would take a year at least to get a stable skinning engine sorted out. During that time he could be fixing bugs or adding useful features.

a year >? khaled could maked on the fly with directskin read this: http://www.stardock.com/products/directskin/
And this would make mirc realy cool smile

I disagree, it would just make mIRC a worthless pos.
Posted By: tso29 Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 09/03/06 12:51 PM
In my option it would maby we sould (vote) for it what do you think ?:)
Posted By: mIRCManiac Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 09/03/06 12:58 PM
Vote on whatever you want, it would still be a worthless pos.
Posted By: hixxy Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 09/03/06 01:02 PM
I wouldn't mind seeing skins implemented if 'normal' development could continue as normal, but it's unlikely that it would.

Also, that program you linked to uses the .NET framework. I highly doubt Khaled is going to package a 23MB framework along with a 1.92MB program just for the sake of skins. That would be daft!

Sorry but this is what you personal think it dont means others
thinks the same too. we sould close this session.

You sould read carfull how skinig works before you post here about 23mb dude , we sould close this session.

“DirectSkin from Stardock uses the native drawing features of Microsoft Windows XP to make it easy for .NET Framework-based developers to create flexible, attractive user interfaces for their applications,”

That implies that you would need to be using the .NET Framework to use the library. If that's the case, not everybody has the .NET Framework installed and to keep compatibility with people that don't he would have to package the framework along with mIRC.

Every modern program used by a large group of people shoud have personable look. And this is incontestable fact. I order to appeal more users, mIRC must have such, it is just a matter of time untill this becomes a big obstacle to mIRC's spreading... crazy
Posted By: hixxy Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 09/03/06 09:39 PM
I couldn't agree more. Every program should have a unique look so that we can get used to the new interface every time we start to use a new program. Windows themes just aren't enough, every program should look different. </sarcasm>
Posted By: raZOR Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 09/03/06 10:21 PM
i think people would get sick of mirc if it had such feature...
like windows themes arent enough....

Uh could you quote the source you have for this "fact"

mIRC should look like....
mIRC.

there is no confusion in this approach to reality.

hmm mIRC Icon (click) ah yes, mIRC, I know this interface!

while many enjoy winamp (and other) programs that have visual overlays that you can create or use from others, thiis is not a prerequisit in a quality, functional, program..

mIRC styles seems like something that could (and should only) be done using dlls of some sort.

Everyone is sick of the good old windows theme which mIRC uses... when I ask someone "Why don't you use mIRC instead of other chat programs?", they say "It looks too boring! Well this is BS!!! We all know that the functionality is the most important thing, but many people are searching for the "good looking" one... crazy
Posted By: tso29 Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 10/03/06 11:07 AM
No worries becuse we will win fineli smile

mIRC is just a windows applications and the next Microsoft Windows Version. is a new visual style skin somthing like you asked for,. so even if the want mirc stays like it is. the will fail when the update to next windows version., thoes (joke makers.) may delay., but Time will not delay...

yes, indeed... but that is what non-programers see in programs - look and fx... frown

points on SoundreameR < You got the point.
It would be a big + (plus) for mirc if it would be skinable with visual styles!, like it would be a + if it would have foul xp visual style with xp tabs , trakbar etc..
even all scripters using dlls to give mirc a visual style
show me one script public script thet is not using minimum one dll like mdx,

I couldn't agree with you more.

Update with bug fixes yes.
Update with new functions yes.
Update with improved functions yes.
Update with improved performance yes.

Update with a bunch crap that will do nothing but
unnecessarily bloat mIRC and look pretty to a few ..
that would be a big fat no.

whats the point ? becuse i don't get it sorry !

Yeah... you guys think like pure coders... but try to hack out from this position and try to look from the eyes of those who understand only how to type their nicknames and press 'Connect', they would realy appreciate a good looking program... as for me... BitchX in terminal suits me fine! smirk

In previous posts you keep asking the thread to be closed so why do you keep posting?
Posted By: tso29 Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 10/03/06 06:59 PM
I have nothing better to do at the moment., so why you asking and why you care?
Posted By: vexed Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 10/03/06 07:33 PM
Because some nice people have helped me on here and spend quite a bit of time helping others and i just see comments from you as very blas'e and tad rude.
Posted By: tso29 Re: mIRC Visual Styles - 10/03/06 07:57 PM
If the question of the answear is blas'e in you option then your level is very but very Low.

answered how mirc could be skined on the fly remmeber?:

The interface could be "jazzed" up a bit without resorting to skins. There are many fine looking controls out there that mIRC could use as part of the interface without having to implement skins (for example; the left bar in windows explorer).

I don't mind either way if Khaled decides to change the interface, but I think skins would take far too much of his time that could be used on other features.

If he decided to use a third party skinning engine then I wouldn't mind, but if he decided to make his own it'd be like managing a whole new program.
