Ping? Pong!

Compatible clients are available at ftp://ftp.undernet.org/pub/irc/clients

Alt-O (Options) -> Connect -> Identd
[ ] Show Identd requests

Uncheck that and you won't see those two lines come up again. It is merely the server you're trying to connect to asking your computer if you, the connecting client, are who you say you are. Your computer said "Yes, it's me."

Unfortunately, right after that, you pinged out; this means that the entire transaction took too many seconds and therefore you didn't get to log on that time. frown All you can do is try again. crazy

I unchecked it and its still coming up.

That should have stopped you from seeing it, though you don't want to prevent mIRC from replying to the IDENTd request from the server.

(I'm assuming you were referring to the 2 lines of the IDENTd request:

* Identd request from 207.44.152.11
* Identd replied: 2134, 6667 : USERID : UNIX : goodbye

rather than the error lines below that.)

First of all, I assume you are using one of the later versions of mIRC. The reason you see Ping? Pong! is the ircu spoofed client detection code. If you can get on Undernet, but not on GamesNET, then I assume that GamesNET broke the code somehow. If not, then you're not replying to the PING request properly.

I just connected to that server and connected right away with no errors at all. Are you using the latest version of mIRC?

There have been known cases where compatible clients couldn't connect. I would try another server. The only other thing I can think of is a script issue. Try connecting with remotes off, see if it helps.

hmm there is no other server for gamesnet just east and west and they both do the same thing. one more thing client mean isp or does it mean the version of irc i have?
and im not using a script and how do u turn it off?

according to the gamesnet website, there are other servers you can try, http://www.gamesnet.net/servers.php

to turn off remotes (scripts) in any window of mIRC, type /remote off

as for "replying to pingpong" yes, you did reply, sounds like you had it hidden before in mIRC's options. The ping is the server pinging you, the pong is mIRC's response to it. If the time between is too long, then the server decides you are amongst the missing and "ping times you out", disconnects you.

I would just be guessing what they mean by client, as they could mean either one. Have you tried posting this on the gamesnet forum? they would be more familiar with how things work on gamesnet than many of us are. http://forums.gamesnet.net/
