So i was spamming in alot of channels... there was a contest goin on... no excuse.
So i got Glined. Then i closed mIRC switched my cable lines, and went back in. Then i got Glined again for ban evasion. so i know that was wrong. i was talkin on aim wit a friend, and i look and i didn't do anything, but my mIRC auto connected and im not sure how, but it let me back in! then it IMMEDIATELY k-lined me for evasion.
first, id like to know what k-lined means, and would like to know how i evaded ban the 2nd time, when i didn't touch ANYTHING. just opened up an aim chat...
Plz message me on aim or something instead of responding here, OR Also responding here... thanks

You don't have the right to avoid bans. As an oper I can only say that it is grossly annoying to have someone do this because it ultimately results in the banning of innocent people.

k:line is a local server ban. I am unsure of what g:line is as my network doesn't have it but I can at this stage assume it is the same as an akill (global k:line).

k:lines, akills and g:lines last as long as the person who set them wants them there. You were probably banned for the third time because the global was still in place. And if you were advertising then I have no sympathy for you because no network anywhere in the world allows it.

on the server im on, a k line is a 36 hour ban from the server.

First of all spamming isn't cool, and spamming competitions are even lame as well. You got k-lined because of that reason and I would probably side with the admins on your network for you getting g-lined (for ban evasion) from the network. The admins k-lined you because they probably figured you would learn from your actions by understanding the consequeces for spamming by g-lining you.

You have the options of either emailing the admins apologizing for your actions and request them to lift the ban (don't expect them to bend over backwards for you) or you can wait it out.

on most nets im aware of a gline is a global kill ..... affective thru all servers linked. now once u rejoined it will say basically a common ban message saying something like your not welcome on this network u have been kilined for <insert reason here> now where that says insert reason here i believe the local servers take the gline or kline message and insert it into there as why ......

now i could be mistaken on how its done on where your connected but that would be my best guess. As to how long .... well that could be indefinatly or 24 hours just depends on the admins mood at the time

A Gline is a temp kline on ALL servers linked to the network.

G = Global.

The gline is held in memory, and usually has an expiration time ranging from minutes to several days or even weeks.

It's not always temporary, many networks support permanent glines.
