I have just recently reformated my computer and installed a new OS......after downloading MIRC and I'm trying to get it to to run agian it won't let me connect as I'm trying to connect to Gamesnet west server but gives me a GT-BOT TroJan error thingy ??? can someone help me !!

Have you tried running a virus scan?

did you download mirc from this website? because as far as im aware this is the only place where khaled said it can be distributed.
also run a virus scan.

It's also possible that someone within your ip range is banned because of this GT-bot thing. Still, do a thorough virus scan just to make sure. A good online one can be found here - and it's very good at catching trojans/virii that other AV's miss. If nothing is found, have a look at the gamesnet website for more info on how you can contact the admins.

The best thing you can do to try and determine if you have this trojan is run The Cleaner. You can download a trial version of it at http://www.moosoft.com/thecleaner/download.php. If after running that you still have problems, try going to #dmsetup on EFNet (irc.prison.net). They should be able to help you with your problem.

Kinda implies you can get it from another mirc user

khaled and a few of the moderators on this forum are in #mIRC, so i think he means from them

OFFICIAL mIRC channels (#mIRC) are allowed to distribute mIRC, helpful in the event a user is having difficulties with the download or www.mirc.com. (Note the FAQ also says "If you have further questions about mIRC, please visit the IRC channel #mIRC on EFnet, IRCnet, Undernet or Dalnet") One would hope a user would realize they should be discussing it with an op in those channels and not accept the file from just "another mIRC user". We (the ops) refer users to www.mirc.com and/or our own website. We recieve the file from the same source as www.mirc.com and all other approved download sites ( in other words, from Khaled) and place it on our websites for availability. You would not be getting the file directly from one of us.
