cannot connect to mirc system let along a chat group
just started last Friday and other folks in the same chat group cannot connect either.
Last Thursday Jan 10 2013 was last day we were all able to even get into MIRC.
And we are all from different cities.
So if others and get on system, why not us.
We use irc.othernet.org as server I guess
I am on the same server as Hal.
None of us in the same room can connect.
It's Othernet: Random Server, port 6667 (irc.othernet.org)
this is the message: "Unable to connect to server (Connection time out)
That keeps repeating
any help would be appreciated. Are folks able to connect at all (to MIRC??)
You don't connect to mIRC. mIRC is a program used to access IRC servers. It's not affiliated with any of the servers it connects to. Othernet appears to be down. There's nothing anyone here can do about it.

if we wanted to move our room to another server, do you happen to know how we would go about doing it?
I know I can probably look it, but I'd rather not spend time reinventing the wheel.

You just join any server in the server list and join your room.

Keep in mind that all networks can go down from time to time, though larger networks are less likely to be down for very long. The downside is that you are also more likely to have to deal with spammers on large networks. That isn't always a big deal and there are a variety of protection scripts, but it's something to consider.
As far as moving, all you do is connect to a different network and join the channel you want to use. If the network supports it, you can register the channel so that others don't take it over on you. For help with that, ask in the #help channel one the network you choose. The only difficulty with moving is to get your users to move with you.
