I have seen it, but I've never seen it as a long term problem. Usually just waiting 30-60 seconds then retrying the connection is sufficient for the problem to be resolved.

Is your router configured correctly? Have you tried rebooting?

yea I've tried rebooting system...router...but no luck. As I mentioned...I've been using mIRC for years now with same router...and no issues..maybe I'll try a firmware update on the router...and reboot everything again...

Well, routers die all the time. In fact, you can bet your router is going to die in a few years, and given that you've been using it for a few years now, it's due. Weird things happen when routers start to die... software connection aborts are the most common, but other things can happen too.

As you said, it's been broken ever since you got back. Clearly something changed, so you can pretty much ignore the fact that it's been working for years and assume anything can be at fault.

It's a warning about a broken pipe in the Gulf of Mexico. Blame BP.

Sorry, I had to.

'Knee Slapper' JD...LOL...well no luck with the reset or reboot. The other thing that is interesting, I have a second system connected to my network via same router, and I am able to connect and transfer files on that system without issue...if I ever find the rootcause I'll be sure to post

It might be that the port on the router, that the computer you're having trouble with, is going. One port rather than the full router. Try connecting to a different port on the router and see if that makes a difference.

Back in Action! Well I said I would repost once I found the solution.

This is how I resolved the issue with the broken pipe:

Located my mIRC icon and right clicked
- Selected Properties
-Selected compatibility Tab
-in 'Privilege Level' Section make sure 'run this program as an administrator' option is checked...

working like a charm again!
