Hi:
I have DSL and i have been using mIRC for a while now. I could connect to say UnderNET with two clients of IRC one for me, on as a fserver. I recently put in a D-Link 704-P router to share DSL throughout the house. Now if i try to connect with more than one instatance i get a msg "Error: Closing Link: Jasen21[unknown@dsl-64-129-167-25.telocity.com] (Too many user connections (local)) " . Also i have lost the DCC ablility to send and Chat. I can recieve. I set my PC in the DMZ of the firewall so it shouldn't be blocking any traffic, but if anyone has suggestions PLEASE HELP smile thank you
Replly here or email Jackotrades@blueridge.net

I run XP_pro

I had the same problem with my DI-614+. Today I set the router firewall DMZ for this machine and it resolved the DCC send problem. Might I suggest if you do that ...you should run Zone Alarm Pro, so you are not wide open to the internet.

Hey, Thnkx for the suggestion

I have it in the DMZ already and run Sygate Pro... (never liked ZoneAlarm) lol

I don't know i can recieve files fine, but it wont send, and DCC CHat doesn't work at all.

sounds like you need to do some port forwarding in your router, then put those ports in mIRC's options file/options/dcc/options where you see the default of 1024-5000. (I assume your dsl settings arent the problem) Also be sure mIRC is getting the external ip for machine, not internal network one.

when you can recieve but not initiate sends/chats, usually means either mIRC isnt getting the correct ip or the ports are blocked someplace, like router/firewall/dsl settings.

hmm.. i am running DSL on my desktop and using Internet Connection Sharing (the one free from microsoft) to my laptop thru LAN.

I am facing the same problem..i can receive.. but i can never send out. I have tried turning off my Zonealarm. but it doesnt solve the problem.. both my systems stil can't send out.

My systems are picking up the external ip fine. I have checked under local host and dns my own nick to confirm it.

can anyone help me here? did i leave something out?

Tried no firewall. still doesnt work.

The prob could be either in your dsl settings (did they give you a place and password to web or telnet into to adjust?) or with your lan or ICS. ICS is what i would look into first. check out these urls: mIRC and ICS help : http://www.borg.com/~chuck/using.htm http://members.home.com/kgamard/win2ktip.htm#ICS http://www.ircworks.com/ics.htm

hmm.. thanks.. any idea what to do if both my systems are running win98se? =op

so far all the info i've found works only with windows 2000. i simply cant find anything similar to what they are refering to in my win98se

try this site: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q227148

also, be sure in your LAN , on the gatekeeper, you have forwarded a range of ports for mIRC to use, then put those ports in mIRC's options, under file/options/dcc/options where you see the default of 1024-5000
