Hi, when I download something on mIRC, i get the dcc receive and its going fast (~450 kbs), its a dvdrip of a foreign movie. However, about 1-5 minutes into the dcc receive, my computer freezes, and the mouse cannot move for about 30 seconds, and then after 30 seconds it can move for about 10 seconds, and that keeps going on. I am forced to restart the computer because this keeps happening. Does anyone know what is the root of this problem? I do not have any bittorrent client running while i d/l from Mirc.

Does ya harddrive light lock on while it lags? Sounds like a big as disc write going on.

It is a processor spike.

this happens to me to when I get files of Mirc and no its not Warez!! I am trying to get a movie clip from my brother in USA.

The processor usage spikes to 100% which is enough to trip the system up for 30 secs, then it clears itself for 10 seconds before usage goes back to 100%!

I have a 3Com ADSL modem/router with a 1mb adsl connection and I use Nortons Internet security 2005.

any help would be gratefully recieved.

Its not necessarily warez...it happens on other things too, like getting some freeware programs to edit dvds. please someone help.
