Ok do you have a firewall enabled? Try checking the settings also do you have a router or even tried the obvious changing the port numbers other than 6668, try 6667 instead or another...I'm just throwing out possibilities in hopes of trying to narrow it down...

have you tried connecting to the numeric of the server instead of the alpha?

in mIRC's status window, try:
/server b0rk.uk.quakenet.org

if you get cant resolve, then try:
/server 213.221.165.248

Did you try to connect to the numeric as i suggested? Like in your mIRC status window, type: /server 213.221.165.248

Or manually typing one of the servers EXACTLY as listed at web page in your status window ?
Like: /server b0rk.uk.quakenet.org

On this one i cant get on: /server b0rk.uk.quakenet.org
but on this one i get online : /server 213.221.165.248
Have you an idea why??

Could you give me more IP´s?? because this one is sometimes too full!

Please help me!!

Go to quakenet's website as ParaBrat has already directed you. They should have an updated list of servers there for you to try. It's not possible for people here to know the full list of working servers for every network.

What i gave you was the alpha and the numeric for the same server. Sounds like someplace there is a dns problem, perhaps at your isp.

for every ip there is an alpha and a numeric.... since its far easier for ppl to remember something like brat.pb.net than 123.456.789.432 (both made up, so dont try to use those, lol) when you type in /server brat.pb.net some lil gremlin resolves/translates that domain into 123.456.789.432. (dns is domain name server) Your lil gremlin is asleep someplace along the line.

To get the numeric, while i was connected to that network, i typed: /dns b0rk.uk.quakenet.org and was shown the numeric for it. I could also have typed /dns 213.221.165.248 and it would have told me b0rk.uk.quakenet.org. If you look at all the stuff that scrolls thru your window when you connect, you will prolly also see the numeric. So, go to the website i told you, find some servers, then get the numerics for them and write them down someplace smile

does this solution work for other servers? like efnet? what would i type for that? im having the same problems with every server

thanks
Posted By: ParaBrat Re: Unable to resolve server - 27/02/03 05:03 AM
yes, just go to efnet's web page to see their server list.
example to try to see if it solves your problem:
alpha: /server irc.qeast.net
numerical: /server 206.167.75.78
