I am trying to connect from work and this is what I get for every server I try and connect to.

* Connect cancelled

-
* Unable to connect to server (Connection refused)
-
* Connect retry #1 203.81.43.98 (7000)

* Connect retry #2 irc.chatgalaxy.org (7000)

Now, I know they use a http proxy, and I can get yahoo messenger to work with the http proxy info, so I used the same info and port number in mirc and I can not get any server to connect. I downloaded the newest version and installed that also, but to no avail. Anyone have anything else that I can try?

Thank you.

Talk to your network administrator.

Chances are, they aren't allowing traffic out on port 7000. Remember that most employers don't enjoy paying you to chat.

Is there any way to find out what port Yahoo messenger is using and then use the same one for mirc? Yahoo seems to be the only messenger program I can get to work, so I bet you are correct.

Run cmd and type netstat -n
