hi'z
Since i've got DSL here, network of 2 pc's behind DSL router, IRC refuses to connect to most servers...
A connection specialist said it has something to do with IRC settings with the change from direct internet to the router
Its REALY annoying that i cant connect to quakenet, can someone help me plz?
I'm assuming you can access other protocols fine, such as http (in order to have posted this here), mail, instant messaging etc, you also said 'most' servers. Maybe your router is blocking a certain port?
Do you actually receive an "* Unable to connect to server (Connection timed out)" error message or does the connection simply stop receiving traffic (which may be an MTU issue on your router)?
Without a more specific error message it's a bit of a stab in the dark, sorry.
you haven't given enough info so i'm only gonna guess here:
I guess you can connect to ther protocols by specifying a proxy server. If that's so then go to mIRC options and specify that proxy.
Im sorry for the few amounts of info..
i get this message:
* Connecting to se.quakenet.org (6668)
* Unable to connect (Connection timed out)
Sometimes i have troubles with IE, msn etc. too, has something to do with the DNS settings...
But those problems dont show up very often...
And for the servers: to most servers, i cant connect but some are still accesable
And im (a bit of) an IRC n00b so i dont have any idea how to set the proxy settings ^^
Can someone plz help this lazy n00b?
can you connect to se.quakenet.org by using /server 195.54.159.109
Thanks but doesn't work
* Connecting to 195.54.159.109 (6667)
* Unable to connect (Connection timed out)
since you said "some are still available" perhaps you have some ports blocked somewhere? when you can connect, take note of what server port you're using.
you can look at the suggestions in
