When i connect to mIRC it takes almost 2 minutes to do so.
Everything goes fine till here:
* Connecting to eu.undernet.org (6667)
-
-eu.undernet.org- *** Looking up your hostname
-
-eu.undernet.org- *** Checking Ident
-
-eu.undernet.org- *** Found your hostname
-
And then it's stays there for over 2 min ?
Can someone tell me why it takes so long to connect?

That often occurs when you have a Firewall running. Disable any firewalls you have. If you have Windows XP you may have the XP Firewall enabled (without knowing it) so check these instructions.

You may also like to try a different hostname lookup method:

ALT+O > Connect > Local Info

Make sure "on connect, always get:" has Hostname checked, and if the server lookup method says "Server" change it to "Normal". Likewise, if it says "Normal" try changing it to "Server".

You may also try a Search to try and find other problems that refer to this.

G'luck.

Changing the lookup method is unlikely to have any effect, since it doesn't change what the server does.

Normal lookup: Get's local information from the local computer.
Server lookup: Get's local information from the server (using the /userhost command after you've connected).

His problem is probably to do with the server trying to connect to his computer for an ident request and waiting for a long time for it to connect, it would probably be solved by turning identd on and making sure no firewalls/routers block the server's request.

That is not 2 minutes.. But 1 minute(i think that is the timeout for the identd request check).. And that is the firewall problem(how was already mentioned).. The packets is just droped.. The firewall don't say anythink to the server(is the identd port opened or not).. And server waiting the timeout..
I have same problem here(my sys-admin think what that can save some bytes) smile
