You can now connect to the DALnet testnet now simply by using irc.testnet.dal.net

What exactly does "testnet" do?

Even curiosity couldn't get me in there...

Basically a place for servers to test... you would see a notice saying its a test net and that you arent connected to DALnet.
With all thats going on, wouldnt surprise me if they have stopped general access.
