I have mIRC and I have been using it for a while. I linked the channel address to a website. But when I click on the address, mIRC wont open up... what can I do?
What exactly do you mean, cayse you're mixing up two things. You cannot run mIRC from a website, you need a java applet like jpilot for that.
I believe irc:// links are the problem...
where is the full path to mirc?
ex: c:\mirc\mirc.exe
I have the address placed as such: irc://irc.servername.com/#server
And the link works. Everyone else who clicks on the link gets mIRC to pop up and directly connect to the channel named. Yet when I click on the link, either nothing happens, or the following appears:
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for might have been removed or had its name changed.
What can I do to make it so that mIRC pop up after clicking on the link?
You can enable/disable the irc:// compatibility when you install mIRC I believe, I don't recall out of the top of my head wether there's an option to do so once the program has been installed (short of running the installation program again which of course is trivial..), but click around in the options and check.
And of course, if there's no option for it, and you don't wish to re-run the installation program, there's bound to be a registry entry you could modify/add to get this functionality anyway.
I don't recall there being an option when you install it, but there certainly is after. mIRC Options -> IRC -> Catcher -> "Chat links" box, check "Enable support".
Options - IRC - Catcher -- check both of the "Chat links" options.
Under Catcher it says the following:
Enable address catching for [x]URL's [x]Emails
On View:
[x]open a new browser window
[x]activate the browser window
On Send:
[x]send address
[x]send description
Markers:
[ ]Place
[x]Deleat
On double click:
[x]edit address
[ ]view address
the ones with 'x' are checked. What now?
What version of mIRC are you using?
there was 5.51, then 5.6. The current version is 6.12, have you considered downloading a more recent version to see if that solves the problem?
