hello =)

Im trying since yesterday to connect to ICQ-IRC, never changed settings "* Connecting to irc.icq.com (6667)"
However, Im always getting "* Connect cancelled" !
Something strange is, that i could connect on the website web.icq.com/icqchat/ without any problem.
Anyone the same problem?

Hope someone can help me

I just tried it, and while I was unable to connect (Connection Refused), I was able to confirm that the network is up.

Probably just have full servers or they're undergoing a DDOS attack.

Thanks for your Answer Russel,
So I suppose it means, people with an irc Client have to wait till they solve the Problem?

Anytime it's a server/network issue, you have to wait on them to fix it.

I see!
But why is it possible to connect with this webchat? And don't they have mods too, which will for sure not connect with weblogin and how can they prevent mirc users to connect?

so many questions wink

If you want answers about a specific network, you should go to the network's website and look for how to contact them directly.

Keep in mind that there may be a specific reason you are not able to connect such as putting in a nick or identd/email username that they don't allow or having a firewall or router giving you problems connecting or connecting on a different port with mIRC than with the web version or any number of things.

Also realize that "* Connect cancelled" is not an actual error message in mIRC; it's not even grammatically correct. Instead of paraphrasing/approximating error messages, list the exact error as you see it. This will make it a lot easier for you to get help, since people will be able to tell what your actual issue is.

* Connecting to irc.icq.com (6667)
-
* Connect cancelled
-
* Connecting to irc.icq.com (6667)
-
* Connect cancelled
-
* Connecting to irc.icq.com (6667)

would you mind to tell me what i did wrong to tell you guys what mirc writes?
Thank you...

@Riamus2: If Russel in the same Thread have the same problem, it might not be only me or because of a wrong email and such.

Actually, Connect Cancelled is a valid response if you use the Connect/Disconnect button while a connection attempt is being made.

As I noted in my earlier post, I was getting Connection Refused, which, while a different message, still means that the connection was not being made.

Does a connection on a different port fail as well? I have no problem to connect on e.g. 6669...

IRCQnet closed 6667 port only for a while coz of some problems 6668, 6669 and 7000 port still working.
