I was kicked from a channel with the message.

"you will not version check me again."

What does this mean ?

likely that you ctcp version'd them, which is sometimes rude to do without asking (and any reason), especially to ops.

how do you ctcp version someone ?
I need to know so I can avoid doing it again.
Is it when you click on someone's name ?
You would have to either right-click their nick and choose CTCP > Version or otherwise manually type /ctcp nickname version - it's never done automatically. If you haven't done either of those things then maybe you have a script doing it. Or perhaps it was just mistaken identity.

I did neither of those things and was not running any scripts.
