ok, i'm Mirc-illiterate, i just need to know one command...

how do i follow someones' IP address instead of their name...

i.e. i log into mirc with the nickname: JohnDoe, but change it within 10 minutes to JaneDoe - is there a way i can tell when someone has done this?

You have a conflicting problem.

You start off with talking about how you use the nick JohnDoe, then change it to JaneDoe. Then you end the question with is there a way you can tell if someone else does it.

So what does that have to do with if you did the /nick?

If someone else did it, add both JohnDoe and JaneDoe to notify. Then, in most cases, the server sends you their mask. If it doesn't, then do the /whois. So /notify JohnDoe and /notify JaneDoe.
let me see if i can get this out without confusing myself or you...

my boyfriend logged into a mirc server under one name
while on that same server, he used the /nick command and changed his name to "boyfriend2" if i logged into the same server on mirc and type in:"/seen Boyfriend" it will tell me when he was on and that "he has changed his nick", now how can i tell what nickname he changed too?? Or What if he doesn't use his common nickname of 'boyfriend' and chooses to use a total different nickname from the initial sign-in, is there a way i can tell he did this?

Clear ass Mudd?? -- sorry...i told ya i was stoopid to mirc eek

You have a seen script?
i'm not sure what that means, but i can type /seen and it gives me a lil information about a nickname...so i think the answer is yes
i think the command i'm looking for is the /finger command...any suggestions or assistance
As I understand this, you want to put someone's address instead of their nick on notify so that you always know when they're online no matter what nick they use?

I've been told it is possible on some networks, but I do not know which ones allow it. (Undernet, Rizon, and WebChat do not)
yes exactly.....how do i do this -- if i can't do it by network, i wont' worry bout it anymore
Sounds like something to ask in your network help channel. They'd know if it's allowed on their network.

In that case, show us your alias for your /seen command.

I already told you how to /notify them.

If you know all the nicks they use, then add all of them to /notify.

that's the issue, i don't know the other nicks that they use, and i'm trying to find that information out...

also

Lion@4E48737E.F38EA763.72A3B44.IP -- what is the IP in that address??

That appears to be a masked address done in the format used by Rizon
So what does your /seen command do?
