I have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400 processor with 3GB of RAM running on XP SP2. When i burn a dvd with Nero 7.5.9.0, mIRC 6.21 hangs. It still works but it takes 10 seconds until it responds on typing or using menu's. The rest of all programs still works ok. Only mIRC gives problems.

What can be the cause of this?

Certain programs tend to "hog" the computer regardless of how fast it is or how much RAM it has. Nero does so when burning, WinRAR does so when compressing or extracting, etc. As for why mIRC seems to be more affected than other programs, I don't know. I don't usually do anything while burning, so I've never noticed mIRC having any issues while doing so.

But if i am extracting with winrar mIRC still continues to work normal. Its only when i am using NERO that mIRC hangs... So how can i resolve it...

Have you tried what you describe with a clean mIRC 6.31 ?
