All of a sudden I am getting the message "your nick isn't registered". How do I fix this and why am I now getting this message?

Nick registration on a network will usually be removed after 30 days or so without connecting to that network. It may also be removed for other reasons by the network administrators/ircops. Just register it again on that network.

Thank You! But I don't think it had been 30 days since I last used mirc. If so...how do I re-register?

I've seen nickname expiration as low as 14 days, Rizon is 21 days I think.

Type /msg NickServ help register

Not having much luck here....I typed what you said and I could not understand all the mumbo jumbo. Please help

Instead of trying to get help here, why dont you ask in the networks help channel? The reason being that with all the different kinds of ircd/services combinations out there its pretty difficult to work out what the correct syntax could be. Go find an ircop or whatever in the help channel and I am pretty sure you will be registered inside 10 minutes.
good luck

That sounds GREAT, but how do I find or ask for an op when I can't get to nothing.
Posted By: Shiru Re: Nickname - 26/11/07 06:26 PM
usually, it's /nickserv register (password) (email). Sometimes they don't ask for e-mails, but if you entered it anyways, it's all good.

It keeps from having someone else using your nickname. Once it's registered, you'll have to type /nickserv identify (password) everytime you log in.

Or you can be lazy like most people here, myself included, and go into your options: Connect>Options>Perform...>type /nickserv identify (password) in the text block, click ok, and leave your options. This makes mIRC perform that step automatically everytime you connect to a server.

I agree, thanks! The /msg NickServ help register sure comes in handy smile.

I'll see if I can find anything that wasn't pointed out.

Otherwise, layering is good.

By fix this, you probably mean reverse it, so in that case, registering your nick should solve getting that message right?

Maybe you were trying to identify (the password) to that nick?

It isn't by the last time you used mIRC, now is it? Mirc has nothing to do with nick name registration services.

If you were implying re-registering a nick is any different than registering for the 1st time, then no, that isn't the case. Same thing as you did when you registered your nick for the 1st time.

Then it could help if you copy/pasted the mumbo jumbo so we could translate. No?

/who 0 o to find IRC ops, but no guarantee.

Just about every sizeable network has a legitimate #help channel.
