Hi, I recently reinstalled Windows, and I'm trying to get my fonts back the way they were.

Previously I could see certain high symbols such as Alt+9775, ☯, a yin-yang symbol, in mIRC, but now I can't. I was wondering if anyone knew what I needed to do to see them in mIRC, since they work in my brwoser (Opera).

I'm running mIRC 6.21 on Win XP SP2. In Options > IRC > Messages, I have Multibyte Display, Multibyte editbox, UTF-8 Display, and Font Linking checked. In the Fonts dialog, UTF-8 is set as the deault for display and encoding.

I *can* see most other characters I've tried, such as Chinese, Japanese, and Greek characters, so I don't know what I need to see these other symbols. Any help would be appreciated.

You may need to install an additional code page in Windows for it to work. I'm not sure which one it would be, though.

Hm, I've discovered that the glyphs will work in Lucidia Sans Unicode, but not in Verdana. Think I had a better version of Verdana before, or what?

Verdana is a single font. Maybe there was some other font in the Verdana series (titled something like Verdana Extended or whatever), but there aren't different versions of Verdana itself.

I installed MS Office, making sure to select all the font options I could, and now they work smile
