sounds like you got a trojan, possibly one that spread itself across the network. (there are trojans that drop a copy of mIRC as part of their payload) First thing i would do is go to web page
and run their free online scanner (it catches some things others dont).
Make a note of what it finds and look in their info on it, may well be you will have some registry editing to do as well.

Okay..I dont get excatly where in the registry to look in order to delete some older files.. i found mIRC in some locations... but it did nothing... where should i look?

whoa! ok, there is huge diff between registry and windows explorer where you find what all is on your puter and can delete files and stuff. do NOT go mucking about in the registry unless you are absolutely positive what you are doing, and even then do a backup first. and think about it. then have coffee and be sure you are where you wanna be and removing what you really want to. And just deleting files prolly wont fix the prob. See this web page

What i meant was that some trojans will make changes to your puters registry that an antivirus proggie isnt able to fix, that you will have to do it. The first thing you have to do is go run that online scanner and find out what trojan is causing this (since you said you didnt install mIRC on that puter, and i assume you cant find it under uninstall thingie). If you dont know what trojan, and what it did, you wont know if you have to do anything in registry. For an example, see this thread

Some trojans hide well, run the scan and see whats going on, then go from there

Hello all, I just downloaded Mirc there and opened up the icon to install it and the error message 'mirc603.exe is not a valid win32 application.' Any idea what this means and how I could fix it. It's windows XP I'm using.

Did you download from an approved site from here ? Did you close all other applications running (including virus scanner) before you tried to install? Im not sure what you mean by "opened the icon to install" since part of the installation process is what puts the mIRC icon on your desktop.

Sorry...Once I decided to download it I chose where it would be saved to. After it downloaded as soon as I try to run the program to install MIRC a prompt pops up saying 'mirc603.exe is not a valid Win32 application.' I have tried it with all other programs closed and it doens't work.
Thanks again.

are you opening file manager/windows explorer and double clicking on the mirc603.exe to install? its a self extracting cabinet, and you dont need to use any external program to install mIRC. see here

I don't know what else I can say, yes I did double click on the mirc.exe to install the program and it's that error message that comes up. I can't get this to download and its really annoying. Do you think it would work if i downloaded it again?

Might be a corrupt download, so yes, try downloading it again from a different location.
