Hey, I've been encountering a problem lately and was wondering if you guys can help shocked . The problem is that I'll download a file and it'll be about 100 megs away from being completely downloaded, but at that point the transfer always fails. I'll resume it constantly but it will download for a few seconds and then say "transfer incomplete". This happens on all networks and channels with the same file - is the file corrupted or messed up or something or is there something else going on? Thanks.
Does this happen with every file you try to d/l or only with certain ppl, or beyond a certain size or just that one file? The cause could be a lot of things and on either end of the dcc.
-speed patches
-needing diff drivers/firmware on a router
-NAT, ICS, are a couple things that can prevent resuming
-the sender may have a limit on how long it takes to d/l
-i've read some providers are using "interference techniques" to "limit bandwidth hogging"
-and yes, isnt out of the realm of possibility there is some prob with the file
-the irc gods are cranky. Try getting the same file from someone else. It only happened to me once, but i couldnt get a .txt file to complete from someone... others could from that person, I could get other txt files from him and i could get that file from someone he sent it to.
