When I enter a channel, I'm the only one in there, even though those channels are popular ones. Could there be a problem with my connection?

Could it be possible there was a netsplit....or does this happen on every network you try...

As TheGame suggested, there could have been a netsplit, or you could have been on the wrong network for the channels you were looking for.

According to their website, #AbleNET is their help channel or find staff to help with /MSG X STAFF

The only other thing i could suggest is checking for another server to try at their web page
