I have been downloading some files (that are legal and from someone i know) that have been timing out a lot. this is causing constant sounds (download failed, download started, etc.) while i'm doing other things that require sound. very annoying. i've unchecked every box under tools, options, sounds and this doesn't help. help please!!!

I believe typing /ebeeps off will stop the sounds.

type /remote off and then try, if it stops after doing
this then you have a script loaded that is causing it.

Try that one, that will bypass any remote aliases named /remote, then open your Script editor and search for /beep and delete it if found

It can actually be any script, but your point is good. If mIRC options don't stop the sound, then check options in any scripts you're running.

Yeah, i just mentioned invision because led me to believe it was more than your typical beeps.... and invision is the only script i ever ran that had custom sounds like that. Not saying only invision has this, its just all i have ever run that has this.

klipper has them, was it a female voice, kinda low and sexy ?

Yeah, we've had numerous people come to the Invision forum asking why they can't turn of Invision's sounds... only to find out they are running XDCC Clipper.
