I'm currently going to try and make an mIRC based chat client. I know how to make scripts and such but I have no clue on how to make a client. I know I need a server and stuff but I'd love to be able to make a client. Please Help

Read the IRC rfc.
After you're sure you have a good understanding of the IRC protocol, you'll need to learn how to program, which won't happen overnight, you need patience.
If you already know how to program, then just read the rfc.
